[New member] Yasutaka Kitazume, formerly of global real estate firm JLL, joins as International Advisory Director

Kitazume spent 12 years at JLL, working on numerous projects from strategy through to execution in corporate real estate, primarily for foreign-affiliated and major Japanese companies. His work has supported real estate strategy with a direct bearing on management — large-scale headquarters relocations, optimising property portfolios across more than 100 sites nationwide, renewing and restructuring leases, and negotiating rents and contract terms.

He also spent several years working in the United States and is well versed in high-level business communication and negotiation in English. Through projects with companies in Japan and abroad, he has built both an international perspective and specialist knowledge of the Japanese real estate market.

His role at ARK& and what comes next

With Kitazume joining, we will combine expertise built in the global real estate market with our knowledge of CRE strategy and real estate advisory, building a more advanced and comprehensive support structure able to serve clients in Japan and overseas.

One area we will focus on in particular is strengthening advisory services for overseas high-net-worth individuals, investors and companies acquiring and investing in real estate in Japan. For hotels and ryokan, income-producing property and resort real estate in Japan, we aim to provide end-to-end services drawing on our network of specialists at home and abroad — identifying investment opportunities, selecting properties, analysing the market, supporting acquisitions and sales, and handling operation and asset management after acquisition.

In CRE, our established strength, we will also address a wide range of property issues that bear directly on management — making better use of real estate owned or leased by companies in Japan and overseas, reorganising locations, optimising lease terms and reviewing property costs — from strategy through to execution.

After leaving JLL he founded Nero G.K. and became its Founder & CEO. He now works as a CRE adviser on the corporate and tenant side, providing end-to-end services from real estate strategy through market analysis, property selection, negotiation of contract terms and support for execution.
