Supported a business transfer for a vacation rental in Tokyo

The seller first approached us for advice on transferring the business. We supported the full process — organising the details of the business and the terms of transfer, considering the transfer price, identifying prospective buyers, adjusting the various conditions and supporting the parties through to signing — and the deal closed roughly two months after that first conversation. Transferring a vacation rental or any lodging business differs from a typical M&A deal. It has to be worked through alongside conditions specific to the lodging industry: the terms of the property lease, licences and permits, OTA listings and the operating structure.
